When your mind is racing, your muscles are tense, you’re always on edge, you don’t feel like yourself — and you don’t feel like you’re safe.

This trauma-informed yoga group is practiced in a safe space with a skilled teacher, Lauren Kenney, who is also a licensed therapist. Lauren holds respect for you and your boundaries in the highest regard. Some of the skills learned in this group can help you learn how to control and manage what your body and mind are going through. As you combine movement and breath, you will begin rebuilding mind-body connections that may have been lost.

Clinician Lauren Kenney is a compassionate and dedicated therapist specializing in helping individuals navigate life’s most challenging moments. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, she works with teens and adults (15+) to create a safe, supportive environment where they can explore and heal from struggles such as eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment concerns, and life transitions.

As a Registered Yoga Teacher, I can also incorporate trauma-informed yoga into sessions.Trauma informed yoga is an approach that integrates the principles of trauma sensitivity and mindfulness into the practice of yoga. This practice emphasizes body awareness, grounding techniques, and breathing exercises, allowing individuals to reconnect with their bodies in a gentle and empowering way. When incorporated into therapy, trauma-informed yoga can complement traditional talk therapies, helping clients process trauma, reduce stress, and regulate emotions. The focus is on creating a sense of control, safety, and empowerment, which is essential for healing from past trauma.

Past Groups & Workshops

Start your year and your first weeks of 2025 off with more presence than ever in this exciting new offering. Hosted by Take Roots founder, Christine Northrup, this group is being offered to folks in long-term recovery from their eating disorder. In this group, we will explore what it means to be living as a recovered person or person in long-term recovery and how we can live more fully in our present lives while embracing and honoring the history that will always be with us? Each group will include an embodiment practice, goal identification, discussion and intention setting.

Topics to be discussed include:
  • Conceptualizing what recovery means to you
  • Utilizing the transformative power you cultivated by recovering from your ED
  • Navigating the world having given up on diet culture
  • Embodied commitment to showing up for yourself
  • And much more!

Christine is thrilled to be leading this long time dream of a group. She will be showing up as both a licensed therapist and recovered person in this space as she guides, what we hope will be, a powerful and grounding process that deepens your connection to your own wisdom.
